The Winnipeg Blues a member of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) is delighted to announce Mr. Paul Maurice, Head Coach of the NHL’s Winnipeg Jets, as this year’s Guest Speaker at the 34th Annual Winnipeg Blues Gala Dinner.
“It is a pleasure to announce Mr. Paul Maurice as this year’s guest speaker” says Mr. Tom Kleysen, Director and MJHL Governor of the Winnipeg Blues and Chair of the Gala Dinner. “Paul has been around the game of hockey from a young age and is acutely aware of the importance of junior hockey and the role that it plays in our community. We are honoured that he has accepted our invitation to speak at our Gala event”.
The 34th Annual Winnipeg Blues Gala Dinner takes place on December 1, 2015. The evening will feature a question and answer session with the Coach of the Jets. A raffle, silent and live auction will also be included in the festivities. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with the team, receive autographs and have their photo taken with their favourite Blues player. The Master of Ceremonies will be Mr. Joe Aiello, Radio Host of KISS 102.3 Mornings.
The Winnipeg Blues was founded in 1930 and was formerly known as the Winnipeg Monarchs, Fort Garry Blues, and Winnipeg South Blues. The Blues have won seven Turnbull Cups as MJHL champions, two Anavet Cups, and one Abbott Cup. As the Monarchs, the team captured ten Turnbull Cups and three Memorial Cups. The 1995 Winnipeg South Blues have been inducted into the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame under the team category. In 2010, the Blues moved into the MTS Iceplex, located on the western edge of the city, and shortened their name to the Winnipeg Blues. In 2014 The Blues won the Turnbull Cup at the MTS Iceplex.
