Blues downed in shootout

Once again a very young Blues squad took on an older more experienced Portage team and managed to hold their own and perhaps a bit more.

Portage opened the scoring in the first period on the power play and held the lead until Gianluca Esteves broke in alone and beat the Portage tender.

Following a early third period goal by Portage, Blues veteran Kamerin Nault ripped a wrist shot inside the post to tie things up then youngster Takato Cox buried the puck with some help from Stephen Kleysen and Giannlucca Esteves on the power play. Unfortunately for the boys Portage tied things up late in the third forcing overtime.

Nothing was settled in overtime despite several nice chances so things went to the dreaded shootout where the Blues came up just a bit short.

Next action is Sunday night September 20th in Portage.
