BLUES FALL 3-2 IN OT TO TERRIERS

The Winnipeg Blues lost their first game outside of Winnipeg in over a month 3-2 in OT to the Portage Terriers.

The first 35 minutes of the game saw sparse chances and sluggish plays from both teams. The Blues eventually fell behind when a fortuitous bounce ended up in the back of their net, but Josiah Vanderhooft scored with one second left in the second to send the game into the third tied at one.

In the third, Garett Zasitko scored his tenth of the season to put the Blues up, but Portage found an equalizer to force overtime.

In the extra frame, neither team could get anything going until Tyler Dodgson took the puck 200 feet and fired a wrister to keep the extra point in Portage. The win moves the Terriers into the final playoff spot in the East Division.

This is the first game the Winnipeg Blues have lost in overtime this season.

Winnipeg next appears in action Friday, February 25 when they travel to TG Smith Centre to face the Steinbach Pistons. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
