Blues lose battle to Portage 2-1

Despite the road conditions, the Portage Terriers made their way to the city tonight and came out of the gate with intensity. The Terriers scored just 25 quick seconds into the opening period.

The early goal seemed to light some fire under the Blues as they didn’t shy away from the top-ranked Terriers. It was still 1-0 by the end of the first, and the Blues scored the lone goal in the second, tying it 1-1.

The Blues’ goal was scored by rookie Ty Naaykens and assisted by Nathan Adrian and Dylan Cassie. Cassie was coming off an impressive three-point performance from Sunday’s game against Virden. The goal was also Naayken’s fifth point in the last three games.

The effort ending up falling a tad short when the Terriers put away their second goal with just 44 seconds left in the game.

The game may have ended in a loss, but the Blues were in it every second.
