BLUES ON BRINK AFTER 3-1 LOSS TO FLYERS

The Winnipeg Blues are on the brink of elimination after a 3-1 loss to the Winkler Flyers in Game Five.

Winnipeg had a rough first period, getting outshot 17-5 through the first 20 minutes. Dawson Green kept his team in the game, but Jayden McCarthy did give the Flyers a 1-0 lead.

Things got tighter in the second, but Justin Svenson potted one on the power play to push their lead up to 2-0 before the final frame.

Winnipeg pushed hard in the third and did close the gap to one thanks to Michael Tanchak’s rebound goal. However, Gavin Waltz scored only 1:28 after Tanchak to give the Flyers the 3-1 win and a 3-2 series lead.

Winnipeg’s season is on the line in Game Six at home on Wednesday, April 6. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
