Nothing like a late season home and home with your probable 1st round playoff opponent to get the boys amped up and ready to play. And play they did, outshooting the visiting Oil Caps 13 to 5 in what ended up being a scoreless first period. Not sure what the hit count was but it would have been high with both teams looking to take the body at every opportunity.
Early in the second the Caps took an early lead but the Blues answered back at the halfway mark on a goal from Ryan Pruden, assists from Browning and Landry.
The Blues opened things up with three unanswered goals in the third and never looked back. Things almost took and ugly turn following the third goal when all the players on the ice were doing their best WWE impersonations but that quickly settled down with a couple of guys getting to the showers early, another group enjoying the company of Ken Steen in the box.
While not overly busy Blues tender Scott Parsons was solid making 17 saves on the 18 shots he faced in this playoff preview.
The boys are off to Virden tonight for the return match – GO BLUES!!!
