Blues Too Much For Wayway

The Blues looked to continue their winning ways over the last place Waywayseecappo Wolverines.

But with today’s MJHL, no team can be taken lightly and the Blues knew they had to be ready.  In the first they controlled the play (with the help of four powerplays) but neither team could grab a lead and the first ended scoreless.

The second period saw Wayway pick up their game but it was Blues captain Brett Brooks who opened the scoring 10:24 in.  Defenceman Maverick Rafter’s second of the year made its way through traffic with 2:13 left to give the Blues a 2-0 lead with a period to play.

Early in the third, Wayway cut the Blues’ lead in half giving the Wolverines some momentum.  However, Blues’ goaltender Scott Parsons continued his stellar play and kept the visitors at bay.  Not until Mitch Hansen scored with just over two minutes left did the Blues have the insurance they needed for their second straight victory.

Game notes:  Mitch Hansen was named the Boston Pizza Blues player of the game.  The 50/50 draw went unclaimed … if you have ticket number G21889, please bring to the next home game or contact the Blues.
