Former Blues head coach Doug Stokes has been hired as the Senior Advisor for the Hockey Operations Staff.

Doug has been an active member in Manitoba’s hockey community for 36 years. He has spent 24 years coaching at the Junior “A” level with various teams in both the MJHL and SJHL; Kildonan North Stars (2 years), Dauphin Kings (1 year), Winnipeg South Blues (15 years); Selkirk Steelers (2 years), Winnipeg Saints (2 years), and the Flin Flon Bombers of the SJHL (2 years).

Doug has had an amazing run of things with the teams that he was privileged enough to coach and many of his former players have went on to careers in hockey in various leagues around the world; including NCAA, WHL, AHL, and NHL as well as many pro stops throughout Europe.
Doug has to his credit 9 MJHL Division Championships, 4 MJHL League Championships, 1 Anavet Cup (MB SK Interprovincial Final), 1 Abbott Cup (Western Canadian Champions) and 8 All Star Selections.
One of the highlights of Doug’s career in coaching was reaching 673 Regular Season wins.  This is the currently the most wins in the history of the MJHL.
One of the most satisfying things about coaching for Doug is being able to help young players reach their goals in personal development on and off the ice.
Doug is looking forward to returning to the Winnipeg Blues in a Senior Advisor capacity.
Welcome back Doug .
