Gord Burnett Accepts Position in Western Hockey League 

The Winnipeg Blues Head Coach, Gord Burnett has accepted a position with the Moose Jaw Warriors in the Western Hockey League.  Gord will move into the role of Assistant Coach for the Warriors.  Gord led the Blues to a 24-29-6-1 record and a playoff berth in his first season as the team’s head coach.  

“This is an opportunity for Gord to move to the next level and we are very excited for him,”   said Taras McEwen, Blues General Manager.  “Anytime a player, coach, or member of your staff is able to move to the next level it is something that we are excited to celebrate as an organization.”  

McEwen added, “We will take some time to evaluate the current position and be patient with the process of naming a new head coach.”

The Winnipeg Blues are a proud member of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) which is one of ten Junior ‘A’ Hockey Leagues in Canada and is a proud member of the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL).  The MJHL exists to provide the best hockey development opportunities for players.
