Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Blues Hockey Club announced today that General Manager Taras McEwen will assume the responsibilities as Head Coach for the 2020-2021 season.

McEwen takes over as head coach with a lot of experience behind the bench.  He was the head coach of Fort Knox for a year before moving on to being an assistant coach for Team Saskatchewan for two years.  McEwen also spent time as the assistant coach of the Notre Dame Hounds in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League for one season before moving on to becoming the Manager of Scouting for the ICE Franchise in 2016.

The Winnipeg Blues have also announced that Zach Heisinger will join McEwen behind the bench as an assistant coach for the upcoming season.

He was the assistant coach for Vincent Massey in the Winnipeg High School League. Before then, he spent two seasons as an assistant coach for the Fort Garry Twins in the Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League. Zach spent three seasons in the MJHL playing for the Winkler Flyers and Neepawa Natives.
