Winnipeg Blues Draft Coverage presented by Canad Inns: Blues make four picks at 2019 MJHL Draft

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Blues made four selections at the 2019 Manitoba Junior Hockey League Draft on Sunday.

Below is information about each draft pick:

 

KYLE GRYSIUK – FORWARD

The Winnipeg Blues selected Kyle Grysiuk in the first round (sixth overall).

Grysiuk played 29 regular season games with RHA Bantam Prep of the CSSHL during the 2018-2019 campaign. The Winnipeg, MB native scored 13 goals and added 11 assists for 24 points in those 29 games. He also recorded three assists in three playoff games.

Grysiuk is a 2019 seventh round draft pick of the WHL’s Seattle Thunderbirds.

 

EVAN FRIESEN – FORWARD

The Winnipeg Blues selected Evan Friesen in the second round (19th overall).

The Winnipeg, MB native scored seven goals and added nine assists for 16 points in 29 regular season games with RHA Bantam Prep of the CSSHL during the 2018-2019 campaign. Friesen added one assist in three playoff games.

 

RYLAN RINGOR – FORWARD

The Winnipeg Blues selected Rylan Ringor in the third round (23rd overall).

The Winnipeg, MB native played 30 regular season games with the OHA Mavericks Major Bantam of the Ontario East Bantam AAA Hockey League during the 2018-2019 campaign. Ringor scored seven goals and added nine assists for 16 points in those 30 games. He also added two goals in five playoff games.

 

ETHAN BUENAVENTURA – GOALTENDER

The Winnipeg Blues selected Ethan Buenaventura in the sixth round (58th overall).

The Winnipeg, MB native suited up for RHA Bantam Prep of the CSSHL during the 2018-2019 regular season. In 14 games, the goaltender posted a 2.48 goals against average and a .925 save percentage.

Buenaventura was a 2019 fourth round draft pick of the WHL’s Calgary Hitmen.
