Blues fall to Steinbach 1-0 at home

The Blues gave up just one goal but couldn’t find the back of the net against the Steinbach Pistons, losing 1-0.

The Blues came out of the gate strong, out-shooting the Pistons 14-6 in the opening period.

After the second, it was clear that the Pistons had some more pep in their step. The visitors out-shot the Blues 12-3 in the second period. However, both goalies had yet to give up a goal.

Both teams were neck-and-neck throughout the third. Shots were 10-10 throughout the period, but Steinbach’s Brendan Martin was able to get the puck past Jeremy Link with just over 5 minutes left in the third.

The No. 3 Pistons walked away with a win.

The Blues play again on Thursday, Dec. 20 in Virden against the Oil Capitals. Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m.
