Portage jumped all over a sleepy Blues squad in the first to build a two goal lead. However, the boys came out to play in the second and despite stripes best intentions the Blues gained momentum. Despite many golden chances and a few goal posts, it was later in the third when Taeron Lewis scored with help from Kamerin Nault. The boys pressured Portage hard for the rest of the game but just couldn’t find the back of the net for the tie.
Jacob Gnidziejko stopped 28 of the thirty he faced making a solid debut for the Blues in the regular season.
