Winnipeg Blues reveal new jerseys ahead of 2019-2020 season

Winnipeg, MB – One of the most storied and historic franchises in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) is changing its look ahead of the 2019-2020 regular season.

On Tuesday, the Winnipeg Blues revealed its jerseys that feature a new logo and colours and the team’s new wordmarks.

“As an organization, we are extremely excited about the fresh new look for the Winnipeg Blues,” explained General Manager Taras McEwen.

NEW JERSEY DESIGN

The Winnipeg Blues jerseys will change beginning next season.

The dark jerseys will be all black and will feature the new logo along with grey, yellow and blue stripes on the arms and yellow and blue stripes at the bottom of the jersey. The dark Winnipeg ICE logo will be located on both shoulders.

The light jerseys will be all white and will feature the new logo with black, yellow and blue stripes along the waist and arms. The white Winnipeg ICE logo will be located on both shoulders.

“Over time, there will continue to be more visible alignment between all of our teams under the 50 Below Sports + Entertainment umbrella,” said Ryan Cyr, President of the RINK and Alternate Governor of the Winnipeg Blues.

NEW LOGO, WORDMARK

While the logo will remain similar, the main colours of blue and yellow are changing slightly. In addition, the wording ‘Blues’ across the logo is predominantly black, outlined with blue and white. The wordmark also includes an icicle-type design referring to its connection with 50 Below Sports + Entertainment.

“The brand refresh will be a platform for our team to leverage as we work towards creating new grassroot connections with families, millennials and hockey enthusiasts while preserving the great history of the team,” said Raylin Kirsch, Vice President of Business Operations.

The Blues will play its home games out of the RINK Training Centre at 57 South Landing Drive, just off of McGillivray Boulevard, during the 2019-2020 regular season. Seating capacity is 700.
