Blues Double Up Pistons

The Blues looked to open up the December portion of their schedule with a little pre-Christmas cheer, courtesy of the Steinbach Pistons.

But it was the visiting Pistons who would get the first cheer, opening the scoring at the 12:17 mark of the first period.  The Blues fought back and with a minute remaining, it was veteran forward Liam Bilton going top shelf on the Steinbach tender to make it one all after one.

On the powerplay eleven minutes into the second, Kamerin Nault would score his team leading 14th of the season to give the blues a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.  Following a high hit on one of his teammates, Geordie Keane stepped in and took care of the situation with a unanimous decision on all accounts.  Howeever it also meant the loss of Keane for the remainder of the game and with a subsequent leg injury to rookie defenceman Ryan Mutch, the Blues were undermanned for the rest of the game.

Once again, the boys pulled together!  Ryan Bittner’s third period powerplay goal made it 3-1 but that was followed shortly by Steinbach with a powerplay goal of their own to make it 3-2 with 8:37 left.  The Pistons continued to press but the Blues and goaltender Scott Parsons once again held the fort, with the final nail in the coffin as Bilton deposited the puck into the empty Steinbach net for his 13th and a 4-2 Blues victory.

Game notes:  The Blues Boston Pizza player of the game was Ryan Bittner while the OMG Blues hardest working player was Jake Stilwell.  Blues d-man Ryan Mutch wend down with an ankle/leg injury.  If you’re still looking for Xmas gifts for that Blues fan in the family, check out the shirts, sweatshirts, caps and mitts available at the Blues tables in the lobby.
