Pre Game Report | Winnipeg Blues clash with Oil Capitals in Virden

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Blues (3-9-1-0) visit the Virden Oil Capitals (6-5-1-1) for the first time this season on Saturday night.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 P.M. CT at Tundra Oil & Gas Place.

This is the first meeting of the season between the Blues and the Oil Capitals. The next time these two teams will meet will be November 5 in Winnipeg.

The Blues are coming off of a 4-2 loss to the Steinbach Pistons on October 15. The Blues received goals from Brayden Foreman and Mikol Sartor while goaltender Dante Giannuzzi blocked 31-of-35 shots. During that game, the Blues went 0-for-5 on the power play and 2-for-3 on the penalty kill.

The Oil Capitals are coming off of a 4-2 loss to the OCN Blizzard on October 14. Virden got goals from Tanner Andrea and Dylan Halliday. Goaltender Riley Wallace blocked 32-of-36 shots in the loss. Virden went 1-for-5 on the power play and 8-for-8 on the penalty kill.

Heading into Saturday’s game, the Blues sit 10th in the league standings while Virden is fifth.

Following Saturday’s game, the Blues won’t play until Saturday, October 26 in Dauphin.
