READ: FAWKES, GREEN GET OCTOBER HONOURS

Eric Fawkes, Dawson Green Receive October Honours

Eric Fawkes is the October MJHL Player of the Month, while Dawson Green is the Goalie of the Month.

Fawkes leads the MJHL in scoring after his stellar October. He scored five goals and assisted on 13 goals for 18 points in 10 games through the month. He is scoring at a two points-per-game clip, the only player in the league managing that number right now.

The versatile forward played on both sides of the ice throughout the month, elevating the play of everyone he’s played with so far.

Fawkes is the second straight Winnipeg Blues to be named the MJHL’s top player, following Josiah Vanderhooft achieving the same title in September.

Meanwhile, Dawson Green polished off an unforgettable month by being named the MJHL’s best goalie in October.

Green started eight games for the Blues in October, winning seven of them. He pitched a .940 save percentage while keeping his goal differential well below league average at a 1.62 GAA.

However, his best moment came on October 16. Not only did he pitch his first shutout as a Blue, a 23 save 3-0 win over Selkirk, but he also scored a goal, shooting a perfect wrister from behind his net into the right-side corner of the empty net opposite himself. The goal was the first goalie goal scored in the MJHL since 2013.

Green also got off to a great start to November, filling in at Manitoba Moose practice on November 2 with Moose starter Mikhail Berdin up with the Jets on an emergency call-up basis.

Fawkes and Green will look to build on their impressive October performances on Friday, November 5 when the Blues face off with the Winkler Flyers in Winkler.
